Huizhou Berth Construction Project Completed
Hutchison Whampoa and Huizhou Port Affairs Group have announced completion of construction work on Huizhou Port container berth.
The Huizhou Port container berth will start trial operation by the beginning of 2012.
Hutchison Whampoa and Huizhou Port Affairs also plan to invest a total of US$309 million in two 50,000-tonne container berths in Quanwan, Huizhou Port.
The officials also announce the construction of the second berth is expected to be finished by October 2012.
Huizhou Port Industrial Corporation Limited, HPIC, located at Quanwan Port Zone in the Daya Bay Economic and Technological Development Zone of Huizhou, and southeast of the Guangdong Province, is 48km from Huizhou City and 74km from Shenzhen.
HPIC operates four multi-purpose berths of 5,000 to 30,000 tonnes and five oil berths of 3,000 to 30,000 tonnes.
Its ideal natural deep water condition allows it to be a gateway in South China for handling containers and general cargo, such as refinery oil, liquefied petroleum gas, wood chips and steel coils. It boasts a total berth length of 1,714 metres.
It provides regular container feeder services to Hong Kong, Nansha and Shekou. The future planning of the 420 hectares development zone will incorporate state-of-the-art commercial, industrial, financial and logistics business centres.
